On 11th Nov. 2015, John Terry, the division chief of Newcastle University International Department, visited CCE and had meeting with vice president Yang Hongfei and Director of Training Department Sun Jinshui. The meeting was mainly about the future corporation of Newcastle University and CCE.
On behalf of CCE, Yang warmly welcomed John Terry and introduced the general development of CCE. He emphasized the main education forms and features of CCE, and the efforts CCE made to develop digital courses, non-academic trainings and international corporations. John Terry reviewed the visit of Prof. Peter Stone on October, 2014 and pointed out the main purpose was to investigate the possibility of bilateral corporation between Newcastle and CCE in terms of non-academic education. John Terry also introduced the programs between Newcastle and XMU and he wished to have further corporation with CCE and serve the high-end training in Fujian province and even in China. Through negotiation, both Newcastle and CCE looked forward to the further communication and corporation, and joined efforts to the internationalization process of continuing education of both, and finally tried to advance Chinese-English Educational Resources Sharing the promote cultural communication.
Newcastle University ranked 22nd in the British College Rankings published by the Times in 2015, and ranked top 200 in the World University Rankings. Newcastle had good relationship with CCE in the past years. In May 2013, the corporative founding Confucius Institute of Newcastle University was officially opened; in October 2014, the Newcastle delegation visited XMU and Peter Stone, the president of Culture and Art College, visited CCE to discuss the corporation in the fields of Cultural Heritage.
