On the afternoon of December 8, dean of Northern Leadership Center, president of School of Educational Communication and Linguistic Science at Newcastle University Rene Koglbauer, manager of International Project Xenia Xu visited CCE. Vice president Wang Chuanjin, director of Training Department Sun Jinshui, and director of Xiamen Learning Center Li Xuguang attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by Wang Chuanjin. After director of International Office of Newcastle University John Terry visited CCE in November 2015, the two sides has conducted once again in-depth exchanges on issues such as cooperation projects of continuing education.

Wang Chuanjin extended a warm welcome for Rene Koglbauer and his group on behalf of CCE. She briefly introduced the history and the status quo of CCE, emphasized the scale, the characteristics, and the target of academic education and non-academic education of CCE with focus on the development, the international exchanges and the cooperation of non-academic training programs. Dean Rene Koglbauer expressed his thanks to the warm welcome from CCE, and introduced in detail the modes and the projects of Newcastle Northern Leadership Center. He profiled the international cooperation projects in Vietnam, in Pakistan, in Chongqing and Baoding China, etc. And he expected to explore possibility in non-academic continuing education cooperation and develop course projects between two sides through further communication. During the meeting, the two sides discussed about the differences between China and the UK in the aspects of education systems, practical experiences and teaching concepts of non-academic training programs, and the training of presidents of middle and primary schools. The two sides both expressed their hope to further communication, to strengthen the bonds, to promote jointly the internationalization of continuing education, and to make greater contribution to the comprehensive development of continuing education of the two countries.
Founded in 1834, Newcastle University is a renowned comprehensive public University in the UK, ranking 16th in the latest Research Assessment Exercise of the UK government. Northern Leadership Center of Newcastle University is mainly engaged in training leadership and management, and providing training programs such as education leadership and enterprise leadership with cooperation of government agencies, enterprises, and third-party institutions. Northern Leadership Center has cooperation projects with China, the republic of Cyprus, Germany, India and Romania.

Xiamen University has a good cooperative relationship with Newcastle university. In May 2013, the Confucius institute of Newcastle university was officially inaugurated. On October 24, 2014, dean of School of Culture and Art of Newcastle university, director of International Cultural Heritage Research Center of Newcastle university prof. Peter Stone paid a visit to CCE and explored cooperation of continuing education in the field of cultural heritage. In November 2015, director of International Office of Newcastle University John Terry visited CCE, and hoped to promote continuing education cooperation of the two universities.
